A weak high-pressure system will largely determine the weather in our country well into the weekend. Combined with very warm air masses of subtropical origin and the sun, which is particularly strong at this time of year, daytime temperatures will rise to midsummer levels. It will therefore be very warm not only in the lowlands; even at higher elevations, you’ll work up a sweat if you’re out and about. In addition, the sun will often shine, especially in the mornings. In the afternoons, however, some cumulus clouds will form, starting in the mountains, and very isolated thermal thunderstorms are certainly to be expected. Some of these thunderstorms could be more intense, causing not only heavy rain but also strong gusts of wind. The risk of such thunderstorms varies from day to day but is expected to be higher on Saturday than on the other days.
